    WHAT TO EXPECT:
Delightful floating melodies of the sounds of nature from the hollow tones of the bamboo bansuri, coupled with intricate rhythmic language of the tabla, leading to evocative musical conversations within the soulful Raga system of Classical Indian music.

    THE MUSICIANS:
BOBBY SINGHBorn and raised in England, Bobby spent a great deal of his childhood in Mumbai studying at Sangeet Mahabharati, an institute of music started by the great tabla maestro Pandit Nikhil Ghosh. Recognised with a great talent at a young age, Bobby became a student of Ghosh’s senior disciple Aneesh Pradhan, now one of the most sought after tabla players in the world. Through Aneesh’s guidance, Bobby was nurtured into a mature and internationally renowned tabla player, both in traditional Indian classical music and cross cultural genres, and is renowned throughout Australia and internationally for his work with acts that straddle the divide between tradition and modernity.

He has played with Indian music luminaries such as Vishwa Mohan Bhatt, Pandit Ashok Roy, Aneesh Pradhan, Shubha Mudgal, Purbayan Chatterjee, Shashank Subramaniyam, and has won an ARIA award for his collaborative work on the album Djan Djan with Jeff Lang and Mamabou Diabate.

Bobby is considered one of the most experienced tabla players and is a highly respected musician in Australia’s world music scene. Most recently a documentary on his musical life was recorded and shown on SBS titled "Viva, I Belong Everywhere".  You can read more about Bobby.

VINOD PRASANNA belongs to one of the oldest Bansuri families in Benares, India.  He has been playing since a young age, and at 14 made a decision to fully pursue his passion of the 250 year family tradition.  He studied rigorously under the tutelage of his Grandfather.

An award-winning bansuri (flute) virtuoso, Vinod Prasanna shines as an outstanding performer of authentic traditional and contemporary Indian music. Vinod’s emotive melodies, exquisite improvisations and divine flute song distinguish his performance of Indian classical, world and meditation music. Simply, Indian music at its finest. Vinod currently resides in Melbourne and has 25 years of international performing and teaching experience.  Read more about Vinod.
