Bodies as a Meeting Place: Exploring Power, Ethics, Rewilding
Description
Facilitated by Héctor Aristizábal (Colombia/USA) and Xris Reardon (Australia).
Drawing on a call to ‘slow down in moments of urgency’, this workshop centres the body as a meeting place where power, imagination, and relationality take form.
Rather than separating thought from action, we’ll explore how power is lived through the body how gestures, tensions, silences, and movements can both enact and resist the social conditions that shape us.
Together we’ll attend to how the body carries and troubles binaries: masculine/feminine, human/more-than-human, mind/body, self/other. Through movement, reflection, and dialogue, we’ll notice how these divisions live within us and how they might soften, shift, or rewild through embodied attention.
Bodies as a Meeting Place invites you to inhabit the political through presence, vulnerability, and responsiveness to sense what becomes possible when we let the body think otherwise.
Participation in this workshop will be capped at around 20 people. We'll be meeting, playing, and discussing in the BCII Studio at UTS, in Ultimo (location details will be shared prior to the event).
Xris and Héctor will also be offering a lecture on Wednesday 3 December. More info here: https://events.humanitix.com/theatre-of-the-oppressed-ritual-and-ecology-creativity-and-relational-practice-at-the-threshold
