Event description

Incinerator Gallery invites young people aged 12 to 25 to a free arts workshop series that blends creativity with environmental engagement. Led by visual artist Olivia Chin and horticulturalist-musician Alyse Kent, you'll learn how to engage with the environment using your senses—seeing, touching, and hearing.

In these workshops, you’ll explore themes like connection and environmental stewardship, encouraging you to re-imagine urban spaces through your own unique perspective. You'll experiment with mediums like charcoal, paint, photography, and sound while contributing to a large-scale banner artwork for the Body Field exhibition at the gallery in December.

These free workshops are open to all skill levels, with materials and light snacks provided. While attending both workshops is encouraged, you're welcome to join even if you can only attend one.

Workshop 2: Saturday, 26 October, 2 - 4pm

Location: Meet at Incinerator Gallery (180 Holmes Road, Aberfeldie)

Meeting at Incinerator Gallery, you will catch up with the facilitators and other participants and see the exhibition space in Boadle Hall. There will be time to share your experiences and artworks from the creek. You will work together on exhibition ideas and use techniques such as scanning and collage to create a large-scale artwork for the exhibition.

Opening event: Friday, 7 December, 6 – 8pm

You’re invited to come along to the free opening event for Body Field, where you’ll see your work exhibited alongside paintings by Olivia Chin, catch up with the facilitators and other participants. Also opening with Body Field are the exhibitions, Planting a garden in my head by Laetitia Olivier-Gargano and Fireworks 2024 and Brightsparks 2024.
