Join CEC Director, Fiona Veikkanen for an enlightening session that delves into the art and science of bokashi composting. Bokashi is an innovative and efficient method for transforming kitchen scraps (including meat, dairy and citrus) into nutrient-rich black gold (soil conditioner!).
In this online workshop, participants will discover the principles behind bokashi composting, learn how to set up and maintain their own bokashi system all without spending a fortune.
You’ll learn how to make your own bokashi system, and what to do with the contents once it’s ready!
Whether you're a seasoned gardener or a composting novice, this workshop will equip you with the knowledge and skills to turn organic waste into a valuable resource for your garden.
Fiona Veikkanen is a passionate local food advocate, grower and compost creator. She has created copious quantities of compost for over 10 years, however has only recently discovered bokashi after receiving a bokashi bucket as a birthday present a couple of years ago. Fiona is passionate about composting and growing her own food without having to spend a bomb on a fancy set up. She incorporates bokashi into her composting routine which has taken her composting to the next level, and she’s looking forward to showing you how you can too!
