Event description

Join us for a special dance event celebrating Elizabeth Cameron Dalman's book Nature Moves when we'll gather in the beautiful Autumn sunshine in Green Square.

Nature Moves documents Elizabeth’s philosophy about creating dance works in and of nature and presents in text and images many of her significant choreographies. The book is a detailed but approachable account of some of Elizabeth’s life-long work in dance, which also contributes substantially to our national dance history.

Nature Moves is described by Jane Goodall (freelance writer and adjunct professor with the Writing and Society Research Group, University of Western Sydney) as "The story of an extraordinary international career, in which dance is earth, wind and light, and the joy of human connection."

Elizabeth Cameron Dalman founded Australian Dance Theatre (ADT) in 1965 and was Artistic Director for 10 years. These early years cemented her reputation as a revolutionary choreographer, earning her the title ‘Rebel of the Dance’. In the decades since, she has continued to create innovative site-specific works, notably in the past three decades at Mirramu, the arts centre she founded on the shores of Weereewa/Lake George near Bungendore NSW.

Elizabeth will be joined by Dr Cathy Adamek, Executive Director of Ausdance ACT, a dance theatre maker and director instigating many award-winning projects and events (Dance Australia Award for Innovation, The Advertiser Weekly Fringe Award for Best Show, Renew Adelaide award for Best Community Event), working on site specific as well as theatre projects and regional and national tours.
