Books, books, books, books! We are so very excited to share that Liz Constable of Book Art Studios is joining us all the way from New Zealand, and she's bringing her infectious laugh and whimsical artistry along for the ride.
Liz is a generous teacher who loves to share ideas, knowledge and her extensive skills as a book artist. You will be encouraged to try new concepts and ideas with just the right amount of prompting. Liz's classes are suitable for beginner book makers right through to experienced book artists.
We'll spend two days with Liz in the studio learning, creating, and soaking in the inspiration. She has two main projects for us, as well as a bonus activity:
- Matryoshka books - This gorgeous set of nesting books is just one of the projects from one of Liz's published books: Re:Create. It’s an easy and fun book that helps students relax and step into the delicious creative flow.
- A set of A5 journals - Liz is well known for her cohesive book collections. She'll demonstrate how she works when building a collection and guide us in creating collections of our own.
- Bonus - Liz will create a journal with a fabric cover for those students who want to extend their learining and enjoy working with the two mediums.
If you're familiar with Liz, you know that she's spontaneous and playful in her work. She invites participants to carve their own paths. Make all of the projects or just deep-dive on one - it's up to you. Either way, you'll learn a lot and have a wonderful time.
Schedule:
Day 1: We'll start at 10am, break for a 45-minute lunch* mid-day, and wrap up around 5pm. There will be an optional dinner out with Liz (at an additional cost) at 6pm at a local restaurant TBA.
Day 2: We'll start a bit earlier at 9:30am, and again break for a 45-minute lunch* mid-day. We'll wrap up around 4:30.
*Participants may bring a lunch or grab something from a local restaurant. There are several options in the area.
