About the Book & Author.
Philip Lako was born in South Sudan and endured unimaginable hardships from a young age. At just 10 years old, he was forcibly taken by the Sudan People’s Liberation Army under the guise of education. What followed were years of suffering, including torture, forced labor, and deprivation.
Despite these harrowing experiences, Philip escaped to Kenya in 2000, where he lived as a refugee for four years before resettling in Australia in 2004.
The Ten-Year-Old Man chronicles Philip’s journey from adversity to restoration, highlighting the indomitable human spirit and the hope he found in a new land.
