How Maisie Lived for One Hundred Years tells the extraordinary life of Maisie Rouch, born in 1906 and raised in Melbourne amid poverty and hardship after her father abandoned the family. Maisie developed resilience and skill, working as a successful dressmaker and despite personal setbacks, including an abusive relationship with her in-laws, Maisie lived a life full of adventure. She raised two daughters during World War II in rural Queensland, travelled extensively, and even mined sapphires. Maisie’s life was one of strength, creativity, and endurance, remaining healthy and active until her passing in 2006 at the age of 100.
