Book Launch: Ngalak Yongka Miyak Koorliny / Visiting the Kangaroo Moon Site
Event description
Come along to hear Cass Lynch and Connie Moses from Wirlomin Noongar Language and Stories share their new picture book Ngalak Yongka Miyak Koorliny / Visiting the Kangaroo Moon Site.
The Kangaroo Moon site is a sacred granite outcrop on the south coast which bears imprints of the phases of the moon in the rock. Ngalak Yongka Miyak Koorliny is a book about the Wirlomin family going to the granite site and learning the Kangaroo and Moon Dreaming story that belongs there.
The book is the latest in a series led by Kim Scott which shares Noongar stories from the Great Southern region of Western Australia.
Listeners will be invited to join in on an art activity to create the different phases of the moon and learn their names as they go.
RSVP appreciated. We recommend pre-ordering your copy of Ngalak Yongka Miyak Koorliny.
