Too Much To Mention Launch

I’d follow you to the ends of the earth,
I said.
And meant it.
She said,
You know the world’s round, right?
In 2015, Bathurst author J.S. Lau started keeping a record of acts of love. Holding an umbrella at just the right angle, accounting for the wind and her toes. A stranger on a bus who comes to his pregnant wife’s aid. His father, who said, “We’ll find a way.” But how do you write about love without sounding smug or sentimental? The project sat for years. Then he found a way. Too Much To Mention is 57 short anecdotes and drawings. Some are funny, some tender, some hard to face.
On the night, James reads from the book and tells a few stories that didn’t make the cut. Then it’s your turn: one postcard, one person, one act of love. You’ll leave with yours written, stamped and ready to post.
Tickets are $33 with a signed, numbered copy, or $11 for a ticket only. Drinks and light refreshments provided.
“Emotional, wise and warm, James Lau’s words about love, life, family and friends will make you smile, think and nod your head.”
Seana Smith, author of Going Under
“James captures love in all its light, darkness and quiet moments, leaping off the page and landing in your chest. Extraordinary.”
Sue Heath, business leader
