About the Class:

Bookbinding is a valuable skill that combines creativity with technical precision. This workshop will encourage you to explore your creative side while learning a new and practical skill. During the workshop you will learn how to create your own book from scratch. You'll be introduced to a range of techniques, basic stitching, and more complex case binding. Learn how to prepare paper, sew signatures, attach covers and create a beautiful finished book. With a little practice, these skills will allow you to create beautiful and functional books that will last for years to come. 

All supplies provided. Moderate hand strength required.

About the Artist: Kathy Burnside

Kathy Shaw Burnside is an artist of many talents. At this time in her journey she's developed from a bookbinding artist into a junk journaling artist. This art form has its roots in bookmaking, and includes recycling and upcycling. The art form encompasses many of the paper arts genres--watercolor, origami, Zentangle, just to name a few. Kathy presently teach classes at Alamance Arts in Alamance County. Kathy is passionate about her art, and this really comes through in her classes.
