Join us on Tuesday 13 October, 6:30pm for a special Books@Stones event for 'Heath-Blues' by Bert Spinks aka Storyteller Spinks, in-conversation with Svetlana Sterlin

Heath-Blues evolved out of an urgency to understand and appreciate the lives that are entwined with mine. I fear what might be lost before I get the chance to know it. These are notes from within an orb-web of relationships, with humans, other animals, plants, lichens and fungi. They are situated on precipices above grief and wonder, from the midst of shifting ecosystems as well as quieter and more introspective upheavals.

Bert Spinks is a Tasmanian poet, storyteller and bushwalking guide from Tasmania. His work focuses on the fine details of places, incorporating rich imagery into stories told in the manner of a campfire yarn. He also shares essays on ecology and travel through his Substack, 'Letters from a Storyteller'.

Svetlana Sterlin is the author of Helen Anne Bell Poetry Bequest Award winning collection, If Movement Was a Language (Vagabond Press), which was Commended in the 2024 Anne Elder Award. The 2026 UQ Creative Writing Fellow, she lives in Meanjin and writes prose, poetry, and the occasional screenplay. Her work appears in Westerly, Cordite, Australian Poetry, and has been recognised in the Queensland Literary Awards, Gwen Harwood Poetry Prize, State Library of Queensland Young Writers Award, and others.
