Books@Stones event: Percy Cerutty: Life Lessons from a Remarkable Coach by Andrew Gunn
Description
Join us at Books@Stones on Thursday 3 December (6:30pm) for an author event with Andrew Gunn discussing Percy Cerutty: Life Lessons from a Remarkable Coach
At 43 years of age, Percy Cerutty was a broken man. He suffered from chronic ill health, smoked heavily, drank excessively and had endured multiple nervous breakdowns. Doctors gave him little hope. Yet what followed was one of the most remarkable reinventions in Australian sporting history.
Through discipline, movement, self-education and an unwavering commitment to personal growth, Cerutty transformed himself into an elite athlete, philosopher and one of the world's most influential coaches. Best known as the coach of Olympic champion Herb Elliott, Cerutty pioneered ideas around holistic health, strength training, natural movement, healthy living, mental resilience and lifelong learning decades before they became mainstream.
Drawing on extensive archival research, expert analysis and Cerutty's own writings, Percy Cerutty: Life Lessons from a Remarkable Coach explores the life, philosophy and enduring legacy of a man who challenged convention and inspired generations of athletes, coaches and leaders. More than a sporting story, it is a powerful reminder that it is never too late to change the direction of your life.
