Booranga Writers' Author Talk with Sharon Brummer
Event description
Sharon Brummer grew up in Johannesburg, South Africa. An avid reader since childhood, her favourite books being Enid Blyton’s Famous Five and Secret Seven series, and continues to enjoy ‘excitement’ and ‘escape’ in books. Her own early writing was inspired by her teachers.
For many years Sharon was employed in a management role with international electronic company, Sony. She travelled widely which she credits with enabling her to refine her writing of characters, plots, setting, and unexpected endings.
Her first novel, Black Waters was published in 2019 and combines themes of organised crime, international espionage and romance. Her subsequent four novels have not shied away from this heady mix. Sharon writes across different genres: novels, children’s books, poetry, short stories and scripts.
Sharon moved to Wagga in 2023 and has found inspiration in attending the Booranga/The Curious Rabbit writers’ readings penning her first poem on Australian soil after hearing Louise D’Arcy read in August of this year.
She will share a variety of her work on the evening of 25 October 2024. Please note this is not the usual third Friday of the month.
Followed by an Open Mic for original poetry.
