Event description

The Catalan Institute of America and the Farragut Fund for Catalan Culture in the U.S. have been collaborating since 2014 to bring Catalan culture to New York audiences. We are delighted this year to celebrate the National Day of Catalonia with a concert by singer-songwriters Borja Penalba and Meritxell Gené. These two celebrated artists from Valencia and Catalonia, respectively, will offer us a tour of the Catalan Lands through the voices and words of the great contemporary songwriters from Catalonia, Valencia, Mallorca, and beyond. Enjoy favorite compositions from Maria del Mar Bonet, Ovidi Montllor, Lluís Llach, Uc, Feliu Ventura, along with works by Penalba and Gené in a magical fusion of voices and instruments that meld to perfection.

We are grateful to the Church Street School for Music and Art for generously providing the concert space and co-sponsoring this event.
