Thinking about riding to school or maybe you're looking forward to some family rides together? Enrol the kids in this fun and engaging morning practising the essential skills that build control and confidence on a bike in urban settings.
Summary
This workshop is for 10-12 year olds who already know how to balance and pedal without training wheels or other aids and are ready to start exploring further!
This 3 hour session will develop essential riding skills in a safe and supportive environment while having fun, with an emphasis on urban riding.
Our friendly Instructors will take participants through the basic skills that build your control and confidence on wheels, all in a traffic-free setting, before moving on to the skills that make a real difference when we’re moving around.
This course is commissioned by the City of Boroondara and delivered by the professionals from Bike it Better.
Fee: $25.20 full, or $13 concession
Who is this session suitable for?
Children aged 10-12 who have basic bike riding skills.
Children who can ride on two wheels independently without training wheels or aids.
Not suitable for children who already have very good bike skills as they may be bored.

There will be a maximum of twelve participants with two instructors.

How to make sure your bike, helmet and everything else is ready to use!

Being able to turn and look while riding, indicating where you want to go and using your gears will take us to the next level.

Their bicycle in good condition with working brakes, a bell and pumped up tyres
Their helmet
Runners or similar closed-toe footwear

Suitable clothing for the weather
- What happens if the weather isn't great?
The workshop will only be cancelled if the weather forecast predicts very wet, very
windy or very hot weather. If weather conditions deteriorate after it has begun,
training activities may be modified or omitted or the session terminated to minimise
health and safety risks.
- Will we be riding in traffic?
This workshop will be entirely conducted in a traffic-free environment and will not cover riding on the road although all of the skills learned will be essential for when your child is ready to do so.
