Immerse yourself in the stunning coastal environment of the Coorong National Park and learn key techniques for botanical illustration from an expert local artist.

Botanical Illustrator Gilbert RM Dashorst CF has years of experience creating detailed illustrations of the world around him and passing on his knowledge as a teacher. Gilbert was the Scientific, Botanical Illustrator at the State Herbarium for 30 years, illustrating plants for scientific publications, State, National and Overseas. One of his many Illustrated books was 'The Plants of the Adelaide Plains and Hills'.

Using pencils, you can choose to draw either a plant, a view of the park or an interesting object you might find, such as a curled leaf or textured rock. Under Gilbert’s guidance, and in the calming surrounds of this popular National Park, you will produce a piece of artwork to be proud of.

Materials will be provided at the event for you to use. This includes paper, pencils, and a drawing board. Feel free to bring anything else you may wish to use.
