Botanical Drawing - Give It a Go
Event description
Would you like to draw plants accurately but aren’t sure how to go about it?
This workshop will introduce you to botanical drawing. You will be guided through the process of observing plant parts, learning to draw them accurately and labelling them using basic botanical terms. You will get an idea of what is involved in botanical drawing and see if you’d like to pursue this style further.
No prior drawing or botanical experience needed. Tanya will assume you are completely new to drawing and to botany!
Materials will be supplied, but participants are encouraged to bring their own where possible.
Reminder: Bring your reading glasses if you need to use them!
Dr Tanya Scharaschkin is a botanist, artist and teacher. Tanya is intrigued by patterns and details in nature. She hopes her art will inspire others to not only admire plants but develop an understanding of the biology of plants.
Tanya is an enthusiastic and well-organised instructor. Her lectures, talks and workshops enable the general public to understand scientific concepts. Tanya conducts a variety of workshops as a way of sharing her enthusiasm for plants and bringing art and science together.
