Botanical painting on Buffel Grass Paper
Description
Join the artists of Iltja Ntjarra (Many Hands) Art Centre for a painting workshop using handmade paper created from buffel grass, one of Central Australia's most invasive weeds. Learn how the artists transform this environmentally damaging plant into a unique artistic material while sharing stories about its impact on local ecosystems. Participants will create their own artwork on buffel grass paper, taking inspiration from botanical specimens of plants native to Central Australia. Suitable for all skill levels, this workshop offers a unique opportunity to paint alongside Western Aranda artists, explore local flora, and gain insight into the cultural impact of buffel grass. All materials are provided, and participants will take home their finished artwork.
Workshop will be held in outdoor rotunda at Olive Pink Botanic Garden, make sure to bring warm clothes and sun protection.
