Botany for Beginners with Katie White

Event description

Explore your inner botanist in this 2 hour introduction to plant identification. Ever wondered how plants are named?  Well this is your chance to pick up some great tips.

Learn the foundational knowledge and a few tricks on how to identify Australian Wildflowers. Katie will explore the different parts of the plant, the taxonomic system and publicly available keys and resources to identify plants.

Katie White is a multi-disciplinary wildflower lover. She works formally as a botanist, studying, documenting and identifying the wildflowers across the south-west of Western Australia. Being so immersed and surrounded by the beauty of the Australian bush, she is also a botanical artist. Her identity as a botanist and artist are inseparable, and one informs the practice of the other.

This event is held in the Ravensthorpe Regional Herbarium which is an annexe to the Town hall where the show is held.
