Join local botanist Andrew Crompton in this engaging short course on botany, where you'll explore the fascinating world of plants. With a focus on plant identification, taxonomy and ecology, Andrew's expert insights will deepen your understanding of botany. Perfect for beginners and enthusiasts alike, this course offers a hands-on approach to exploring the wonders of the plant kingdom.
The focus is on the plant knowledge required for conserving and restoring native flora and fauna, however the skills that participants will learn will transfer to other areas of interest. 

This course will take place over 4 sessions which will include formal and practical components:

  • The first session introduces botany, terminology, naming, origin status, classification and the value of knowing plant families.
  • The next two sessions introduce important families of “broad-leaf” plants (dicots).
  • The last session introduces important families of “grassy” plants (monocots).

9.30am - 1.30pm each day

Location:
This course will be held at Andrew's purpose-built classroom in Mount Barker. Exact address will be provided closer to the start date.

Tickets:
Sliding scale fees are available for this course.
Sliding scale fees are a pricing structure where the cost of a service or product is adjusted based on a person's ability to pay. We understand that factors such as income level or financial situation can effect the fee that a person is able to pay to access this course, and we want to make this as accessible as possible.
Fees start at $40 for all 4 sessions ($10/session) and range to $90 ($22.50/session), please select the amount that you can reasonably afford for this course. 

Certificates of completion are available upon request, please select a free 'certificate of completion' at the ticket section.
