What emerges when an architect, a biologist and a DJ collaborate?
Bowerbirds collect colourful objects to decorate their bowers. Inspired by this behaviour, Bowerbird Night emerged from the idea of bringing personal objects from artists together to create an interdisciplinary gallery, and community.
Creative spheres often feel disparate, without much opportunity for overlap. How do you meet future collaborators, without a way into a specific community? Bowerbird Night exists to bridge this gap, providing a casual artistic space for new relationships to emerge.
Energetic young creatives from all disciplines are invited to come together, each with a small physical object representative of who they are. A tool they use in their practice; a material; a poem that inspires them; a photo; an object from childhood; a feather or bone - anything that inspires them or shows who they are. These objects will be placed in a temporary gallery, before being paired by the crowd. A guitar string and a poem; a postcard and a plant sample. What unexpected conversations will emerge?
Through pairing these objects and the people they are attached to, Bowerbird Night aims to foster artistic connection, building a strong community that will support creative dreams, and bring far-off ideas closer to reality.
What to Expect
Casual Atmosphere: This event is open to any interested early-career creatives. Come as you are, no preparation required.
Community Building: Meet and talk to other creatives at the same stage of their career. Bowerbird Night aims to foster these relationships and encourage unique collaborations to emerge.
Energising Practice: A chance to be inspired by the people around you.

Welcome: Doors Open & Arrival
Arrive early to meet others and place your object in our gallery as the night begins.

Event Begins: Object Pairing
Objects in our gallery are paired collectively. Pair discussions begin. Why and how do our objects, and larger practices, fit together? Pairs will pair as night continues, and larger groups emerge.

Ideabook Handout
Bespoke ideabooks will be passed around, in advance of our second Bowerbird Event.
- 9:00 pm
Event Ends
Conversations come to a comfortable close, and the event is bumped out of the space.

Audrey Rouge Ormella (Creator)
Audrey Rouge Ormella is an emerging Sydney-based composer, who writes music inspired by the birds and landscape of her home, and by the work of artists around her. Bowerbird Night emerged from her dream to create a more connected, supportive interdisciplinary community for young creatives in Sydney. Audrey acknowledges the Wangal and Gadigal peoples of the Eora Nation, traditional custodians of the lands on which she practices and performs.

Local Edition is fully wheelchair accessible,. Buses 431 and 433 run from Railway Square (Stand M) at Central Station and stop at Glebe Point Road at Broadway. If you're driving, the Broadway Sydney car park at 1 Bay Street is about five minutes' walk away and has a 1.95m height limit. The first two hours are free, and parking is also free if you enter after 6pm and leave before midnight. Street parking nearby varies, so check the signs when you park.
