BOXCAR German Language Film Series
Description
BOXCAR is collaborating with the Alabama Germany Partnership to bring you our first “German Language FIlm Series”, spotlighting four films to showcase German art, language, and cinema on the second Tuesday from August until November. Come early for a meet and greet starting at 6:00pm to connect with German speakers, cinephiles, and locals. Screenings will begin at 7:00pm.

Experience one of the most stunning, emotionally resonant visual love letters to modern dance ever put on film. Directed by Wim Wenders, it acts as a tribute to the legendary German choreographer Pina Bausch, who tragically passed away just as filming began. Bausch's Tanztheater (dance-theater) style discarded traditional ballet steps for frantic, repetitive, and deeply human gestures that express grief, desire, and alienation. Pina is an incredibly accessible film even for those who claim to know nothing about contemporary dance, and captures the full spectrum of the human experience.
