    Event description

Are you ready to turn your creativity into a powerful anthem for the climate movement?

Bozarts’ Worlds End Poetry Competition 2024 is now open, inviting you to craft climate change-inspired poetry to one of two iconic melodies. This is your chance to combine your poetic voice with music and make a lasting impact on the fight against climate change!

    Your challenge?
Write climate change themed poetry for either Holst’s I Vow to Thee My Country (Jupiter theme) or the Tallis’ Third Mode Melody (the theme of Vaughan-Williams’ Tallis Fantasia).
You can choose which melody you like best to write for, and you can submit separate texts for one song or both songs. Your words could become an anthem for environmental change.
Bozarts particularly encourages writers to call to account those committing ecocide and despoiling our extraordinary biosphere for current and future generations via rapacious consumerism, greed and profit.

As the world grapples with the devastating consequences of climate change, the notion of ecocide—the destruction of ecosystems on a massive scale—has become increasingly urgent. This competition offers a unique platform for poets to raise their voices against environmental degradation, calling for action and awareness before more damage is done. Through your poetry, you can shine a light on this critical issue and inspire others to join the fight to protect our planet.

    The Judges:
    - Bristol-based poet and augmented sound artist Ralph Hoyte
    - 2022-2024 Bristol City Poet Kat Lyons
    - David Adams, Bozarts Artistic Director.

    The Prizes:
🌍 The two winners will each receive £200!
🌍 Bozarts will actively promote the winning works to a wide range of performing groups and organizations, including choirs and instrumental ensembles from community and professional backgrounds, with a goal of performances of your piece by the groups. This includes exciting initiatives like the 17 Climate Choirs, (including one in Zimbabwe), of the growing Climate Choir Movement (www.climatechoirmovement.org) - as well as schools, universities and other institutions, offering an incredible opportunity to have your poetry performed and shared with diverse audiences.
