Brachina Gorge Convoy Tour: Rocks, Ranges & Radio

Discover one of Australia's most remarkable geological landscapes on this guided tag-along vehicle tour through the spectacular Brachina Gorge in Ikara-Flinders Ranges National Park.

Travel in your own high-clearance vehicle as you follow a convoy through the gorge, connected by UHF radio. Along the way, geologist Jarred Lloyd from the Geological Society of Australia and a local park ranger will share fascinating insights into the ancient rocks, dramatic landscapes and evolutionary story of the Flinders Ranges.

Learn how powerful geological forces shaped this rugged landscape over hundreds of millions of years, discover evidence of some of Earth's earliest complex life forms, and gain a deeper appreciation for the internationally significant geology that makes Brachina Gorge such a special place.

The tour includes stops at key geological features, with opportunities to ask questions, take photographs and experience the gorge's breathtaking scenery.

Please note: Participants must provide their own high-clearance or 4WD vehicle and a UHF radio capable of communicating with the tour convoy. This event involves short walks over uneven ground at designated stops.

Accessibility:

This activity will involve travelling in your own high-clearance vehicle, as well as short walks for up to 20 minutes over uneven ground at designated stops.

Vehicle entry to the park is free for registered attendees.

• South Australia’s national parks are bin-free to help protect wildlife and support conservation efforts. Any rubbish you bring with you must be taken away when you leave. We encourage visitors to plan for a waste-free visit wherever possible and Leave No Trace by taking all rubbish home with them.
