Bradfield in Conversation - Hearts & Minds for Climate Action
Event description
Hearts & Minds for Climate Action
Following the release of the IPCC report and the UN declaring 'CODE RED for humanity', Prof Lesley Hughes & Dr Fiona Foo bring their hearts and minds to Voices of Bradfield's informed panel discussion. MC for the event is the irrepressible Dr Samantha Graham.
Prof Lesley Hughes is a Distinguished Professor of Biology and Pro Vice-Chancellor (Research Integrity & Development). She is an ecologist whose main research interest has been the impacts of climate change on species and ecosystems, and the implications of climate change for conservation. She is a former Lead Author in the IPCC’s 4th and 5thAssessment Report, a former federal Climate Commissioner and now a Councillor with the Climate Council of Australia. She is also a Director for WWF Australia, and a member of the Wentworth Group of Concerned Scientists.
Dr Fiona Foo is an experienced Interventional Cardiologist working with Sydney Cardiology Group and MQ Health Cardiology. She is a VMO in Sydney Adventist, Macquarie University and Norwest Hospitals. She also has interests in Women and Heart Disease, Climate change and Cardiovascular Disease and Sports Cardiology; and has partaken in regular pro-bono work in the developing world.
Dr Samantha Graham has run a business consultancy for 18 years, first in corporate sustainability consulting (energy, water, waste, carbon reduction) and more recently in Executive Leadership Development to build greater resilience, focus and peace of mind amongst leadership teams. Her PhD explored the mindsets leaders require to think outside the square when dealing with unprecedented times and her recent political work has been fuelled by a quiet outrage at the ineptitude of the country's current leadership and its wilful dismantling of democratic processes.
