Branching Out: Walk and talk
Event description
Please note that this program is suitable for adults and young people aged 14 and over.
Photographs and videos may be taken of the event. Please book one ticket for each person attending.
Join us for a guided walk and talk to discover Ballajura’s urban forest.
Densely built cities without many trees or green spaces absorb and hold heat, making them hotter than surrounding areas. Reducing the impact of this ‘urban heat island effect’ is important for protecting health during extreme heat periods whilst also improving the liveability of the neighbourhood.
Whilst taking a stroll around Ballajura, you will explore what trees are best suited for your neighbourhood and the position of where trees could be planted on your verge.
You’ll have an opportunity to discuss the guidelines surrounding planting on your verge and your front yard.
Come and experience a virtual transformation of what a Ballajura Street can look like with more vegetation. Dive into the before-and-after simulation and get inspired to retain and plant more trees!
Light refreshments will be available afterwards.
This workshop is part of the Branching Out in Ballajura campaign, which is a series of free workshops hosted in Ballajura! To find out more and see the full list of workshops, ...
