Are you ready for Rio? Can you feel the samba shake your hips? Will you lose control as the delectable bounties of Brazil bounce across your senses?Β
Welcome to βChristmas Carnavalβ, Bay of Plentyβs sun-drenched festive-season secret supper, brought to you by award-winning restaurant pop-up Kitchen Takeover. From November 16th - December 22nd, Christmas Carnaval will feature a five-course dining delight for three nights a week, at a brand new sleek secret Tauranga location.Β
Our Executive Chef, Shane Yardley, will work with Head Chef, Will Dods, to curate the culinary experience, reflecting Brazil's rich cuisine heritage, with influences from Portugal, Africa, Italy, and even Japan.Β Β
Boasting over 17 years of experience across top wineries, luxury lodges, and restaurants in New Zealand and Australia, Will's passion for culinary craft was ignited under 2-rosette Chef Simon Green, leading to a career highlight at Shannon Bennett's Vue de Monde in Melbourne. Will is a chef of few words, subscribing to the belief that you are only as good as your last service and firmly followingΒ Gordon Ramsay's mantra of "let your food do the talking."Β Β
The dynamic mix provides huge scope to showcase local New Zealand produce with South American styling, while the menu will accommodate various dietary requirements, including pescatarian, vegetarian, plant-based, gluten-free, and nut allergies.Β
As always, Kitchen Takeoverβs liquid offerings will be just as good as the food - be prepared for the freshest, most vibrant cocktails and mocktails, along with our carefully curated selection of sumptuous wines, spirits and soft drinks. To heighten the experience, you can also choose to addΒ a drinks match - 5 glasses expertly paired to complement each course. Β

We have alternative gluten free, vegetarian, pescatarian, no fish, no nuts, dairy free and plant-based menus (which generally covers all the bases) but cannot cater for other specific dietary requirements.Β Please select any listed requirements at the checkout.Β Β

π¨βπ³ Who is designing the mouthwatering menu?Β Β
Shane Yardley is a chef with platefuls of experience. Having spent the first part of his career training in some of the worldβs most renowned restaurants including the Sanderson and Bistro Largo, he did a long stint as Simon Gaultβs right hand man. Career highlights include Head Chef of Euro, Fish, and a guest judge on MasterChef.Β Β

The location is revealed two hours prior to the event time by text and email. Is it in the Tauranga CBD.Β Β

π What should I wear?Β Β Β
The most important question! Dress for a festive, fancy Brazilian bash with a touch of samba flair. We do encourage elaborate dress β it is silly season after all!Β Β Β
