Breakfast with Dan Hewitt
Event description
Dan is the Chairman of Catholic Charismatic Renewal (the ‘pentecostal’ wing of the Catholic Church) in Perth – a position he has held since 2002. Either weekly or fortnightly, he runs 2 charismatic prayer meetings, 4 Faith Sharing groups, 2 Bible Study groups and 1 ‘prayer & praise’ for disabled people; he also participates in 1 street outreach program. Apart from these ministries, along with mentoring and prayer-team ministry, Dan carries out the usual chairmanship roles for the Charismatic Renewal.
Dan was born into a practising Catholic family, (9 children), in the 1950’s, and was educated at Xavier and Trinity Colleges in Perth. He pursued a career in electronic engineering, working initially with the Department of Civil Aviation, and then Murdoch University, a position he retired from at 50 to serve in full-time ministry.
He was married at 21 to his ex-wife, Cathy, built 2 homes in Gosnells (over a 10-year period) and helped to raise 3 boys and 1 girl. At age 24 he had a life-changing experience of the living God which turned his world upside down!
Initially captured by the wonder and amazement of ‘charismatic gifts’, Dan was drawn by the call to simply live the gospel, taking seriously the commands and challenges to give everything to God, while using the ‘signs and wonders’ to back the gospel message.
