Breakfast Without Barriers
Description
One long table.
One shared breakfast.
One community.
No barriers.
Breakfast Without Barriers is a simple but powerful gathering in the heart of Kirikiriroa- bringing together people who might not normally sit at the same table.
No stage. No spotlight. No pressure.
Just people, food, and connection.
$40 - Buy One, Give One
Your ticket secures your seat AND funds a breakfast for someone in our community who needs it most. If we sell out, 400 breakfasts will be shared across our community. Every single ticket counts.
Can’t make it? You can still show up for someone.
Grab a $20 Gift a Meal ticket and fund a breakfast for a person in need - no seat required. Every gift goes directly to someone supported by Te Whare Korowai.
This isn’t a fundraising gala. There’s no MC, no auction, no awkward speeches. It’s a shared meal in a public space that's designed to feel human, welcoming, and quietly powerful.

FAQs
- Do I need a ticket?
Yes, the event is ticketed and tickets are sold in advance for catering purposes. Grab yours at the link above.
- What time should I arrive?
We recommend arriving from 7:00am. Seating is shared to encourage connection and kōrero, and arriving early means you’ll settle in and enjoy the full experience. Breakfast kicks off at 7:30am.
- What if it rains — will the event be postponed?
No, the event will go ahead rain or shine. Just as we do for those who are housing vulnerable, we will provide what we can to help people stay sheltered and warm.
- What should I wear?
Dress as you normally would for a Friday morning. We do expect it to be on the colder side, so bring along warm items like blankets, beanies, and scarves.
If you’d like to further support Te Whare Korowai, these items can be donated on the day to those who need them.
- What if I have dietary requirements?
We are able to cater for some dietary requirements but options may be limited. Please contact us at neigh@duckhorse.co.nz before the event so we can do our best to accommodate you.
- Is there an age limit?
No, this event is open to people of all ages. While the services of Te Whare Korowai support adults, this event is about bringing the whole community together.
- How does the Buy One, Give One model work?
Your $40 ticket covers your breakfast and funds a seat for an individual in need of a meal. Meals are made available to members of the street whānau joining us at Garden Place on the day. If we sell out, 400 breakfasts will be shared across our community.
- What’s the Gift a Meal option?
Can’t make it on the day? A $20 Gift a Meal ticket funds a breakfast for someone in need — no seat required, no cap. You’re welcome to purchase as many as you like — the more gifts, the bigger the impact.
- Where do the proceeds go?
All proceeds go directly back into supporting the people who access the services of Te Whare Korowai, including advocacy, housing support, and day-to-day essentials. Te Whare Korowai is a not-for-profit organisation, and all funds are reinvested into the community they walk alongside.
