Breaking the silence: a postpartum story Head On Festival Open Exhibition
Event description
“A Postpartum Story” is a personal and visually powerful photography exhibition by Bianca Joanna Buliga, an Adelaide-based artist, mindful photographer, and mental health advocate.
Each photograph in this body of work acts as a mirror and confession, revealing the unseen realities of motherhood and the quiet beauty that can coexist with pain. Drawing on her background in psychology and love for photography, Bianca embraces art as a therapeutic process that gives form to unspoken emotions and invites viewers to find themselves within the work.
Part of the prestigious Head On Photo Festival, A Postpartum Story marks Bianca’s continued dedication to using photography as a voice for healing and understanding. She feels privileged to bring this work closer to her own community in Adelaide, a place that has witnessed her growth both as an artist and as a mother, to spark local conversations around art, empathy, and mental health.
Hosted at The Village Around Me in Glenelg South, a community family wellbeing and support centre that brings together local practitioners, workshops, and creative events that encourage connection, learning, and emotional health, this exhibition invites viewers to pause, feel, and reflect.
Join us for the Opening Night on Thursday, 14 November from 6 PM, where Bianca and guest speakers will reflect on the power of art to start difficult conversations, about motherhood, mental health, and the strength that emerges from vulnerability.
