Breast Cancer Awareness: Health, Culture & Early Detection


Join us for a professional and inclusive Breast Cancer Awareness event focused on health literacy, early detection, screening, and culturally responsive access to information.

For many communities, conversations about breast health can be shaped by culture, language, stigma, family beliefs, and differing levels of access to health information. This event creates a respectful space for students and staff to strengthen their understanding of breast health while recognising the importance of culturally informed awareness and prevention.

Attendees will have access to practical information on signs and symptoms, screening pathways, early detection, support services, and trusted breast health resources, alongside opportunities for community discussion.

    Lynette Irungu

    Oncology Nurse Born and raised in Kenya, Lynette relocated to Australia 12 years ago to pursue her studies in Nursing. She is an experienced Oncologist, and dedicated nurse with seven years of experience supporting people throughout their cancer care journey. Her clinical expertise includes chemotherapy administration, pain and symptom management, oncology care coordination, and the development of individualised care plans. With specialist certification in chemotherapy, Lynette is committed to delivering compassionate, patient-centred care that considers the physical, emotional and cultural needs of each person. Drawing on both her professional expertise and lived experience across Kenyan and Australian communities, Lynette brings a valuable culturally informed perspective to conversations about cancer awareness, health literacy and access to care.
