Breastfeeding through the Holiday Season

The festive season brings holidays, family get-togethers, travelling, hot weather, parties and days at the beach. Add a baby to the mix and suddenly there's a little more to think about!

We'll share practical information and ideas for managing breastfeeding through an Australian summer and the holiday season. We'll talk about breastfeeding in hot weather, keeping babies hydrated, feeding while travelling or away from home, navigating family gatherings and celebrations, and what you need to know about breastfeeding and alcohol.

And because Christmas sometimes comes with plenty of well-meaning opinions about feeding, sleep and babies, we'll also talk about handling unwanted advice and protecting the choices that work for your family.

Come along for a relaxed end-of-year discussion and share your own tips for making holidays with a baby a little easier.

Welcome to the Australian Breastfeeding Association Mornington Peninsula Group — a friendly, relaxed space for local parents, babies and families to connect.

Our free gatherings are a chance to get out of the house, meet other parents who understand the ups and downs of life with a baby, share experiences and enjoy some adult conversation. Come along exactly as you are — late arrivals, feeding babies, unsettled little ones and toddlers on the move are all part of the day!

We have regular discussion mornings covering topics relevant to breastfeeding and parenting, as well as informal social catch-ups and play sessions. You’re welcome whether you’re pregnant, breastfeeding, expressing, mixed feeding, feeding an older child, or simply looking for connection with other local families.

Trained ABA Breastfeeding Counsellors are available at our gatherings, so there’s also an opportunity to ask questions and receive individual breastfeeding information and support.

You don’t need to be an ABA member to come along, and our group activities are free. New faces are always welcome.
