Event description

Join us for this breath workshop in preparation for Mental Health Week (9 - 16 October) as we focus on alleviating stress and anxiety while helping with concentration and sleep.

What is breathwork? Breathing is the body’s most important function, we do it about 22,000 times per day, yet mostly incorrectly. The way we breathe affects us in a multitude of ways, utilising breathwork is an all-natural, at-your-fingertips way to enhance your wellbeing. The benefits of breathwork have been practiced for over 5000 years (primarily in India culture) and has been validated by modern science. Breathwork or pranayama as it is sometimes referred, encompasses various techniques that incorporate intentional use of the breath. During the session you will learn and experience a range of different breathing techniques that all have specific effects on your mind, body and nervous system.

What are the benefits of breathwork? When we breathe consciously the mind slows down, you become grounded in the present moment, your neurophysiological state shifts significantly and the relaxation response switches on. At the end of a session people feel mentally and physically rested and yet energised. Allowing us to go back to our day-to-day activities feeling clear and focused. A range of specific benefits include stress-reduction, improvement of sleep quality, reduction of high blood pressure, improvement of lung function, improves concentration, promotes clarity and focus, enhances memory and bolsters immune system. Certain practices are know to relieve cerebral tension, removes toxins and imbalances in the body..
