The breath is more than something that keeps you alive — it's a tool that can help you live more fully, more consciously, and more connected to yourself and those around you.

Breathwork is exploding in popularity right now, and with good reason. If you want to find out what it's all about — or you're after another tool for taking control of your physical, emotional and spiritual health — join Glen for a relaxed, informative and practical guide to the power of the breath.

The workshop will leave you with the knowhow and resources to create your own sustainable breathwork practice and fresh insights into the power of the breath.

A light breakfast only is recommended, and bring water. Most of the breathwork is done sitting in chairs, but bring a yoga mat or blanket for lying on for the breathwork journey.

Push secure your spot to pay by credit card, Paypal or Google Pay or email Glen at breathtrip@proton.me for bank account details for direct payment. Also feel free to email to ask him anything.

FAQs

  • What is breathwork?

Breathwork is divided into two parts: breath awareness, and the conscious controlling of the breath using different techniques for a desired outcome. These outcomes can be many and varied, such as enhancing your physical health, bolstering your immune system, improving your cardiovascular system, reducing inflammation, increasing your CO2 tolerance, reducing stress and anxiety, lifting depression, releasing trauma, dealing with emotional issues, building resolve and resilience, aiding your meditation practice, managing pain, exploring your consciousness, tapping into your intuition and boosting your creativity.

That second part, the conscious control of the breath, can be divided again into methods that can be done as you go about your day and techniques that require you to set aside time and space to practice.

We will explore and experience a whole range of techniques and discuss when is best to do and for what purpose during the three-hour workshop.

  • Can anyone do breathwork?

If you can breathe, you can most definitely do breathwork. There is not one breathwork to rule them all, as our breath is unique to us, so what works as a means of calming down for somebody could stress out another body, so it is about finding what is best for you. Some breathwork is very gentle and calming, while some methods can be quite intense and a real stressor or a workout for the body and mind. So the more intense techniques that involve controlled cyclical hyperventilation or longer breath holds should be avoided by women who are pregnant or people with hypertension or any blood pressure issues, kidney problems, epilepsy or a history of seizures, and approached with caution or toned down (a lot) if you have anxiety or PTSD.

  • Any other health issues to consider?

Please let Glen know prior to the workshop if you have asthma, are pregnant, have undergone surgery recently, have had a heart attack or stroke, have a history of seizures, have had aneurysms detected, are on heavy medication, or have any of the following conditions: high blood pressure, cardiovascular disease, severe PTSD or trauma, glaucoma or retina issues, kidney disease, bipolar disorder, or severe psychiatric problems including psychosis or paranoia. Feel free to disclose or discuss any health issue with Glen prior to the workshop and he guarantees complete confidentiality.

  • What if I can’t hold my breath for very long?

You do not need to be able to hold your breath for ages to do this workshop. Breath holds are an integral part of breathwork and can be a useful tool for self-exploration and as a gauge for overall health and progress in your breathwork journey. Your breath hold times will lengthen over time, but having set times as targets is not the aim. We are not in competition with each other and how long you can hold your breath for is how long you can hold your breath for. And this will change from day to day. What we want to see is if we can influence our breath holds using different methods and if we can enter states of pure relaxation while holding our breath. Breath holds are something to be worked upon but not forced and are best approached with curiosity.

  • What do I wear?

Wear comfy clothes, nothing tight fitting, so no belts or ties!

  • What do I bring?

Bring water to stay hydrated as you can get thirst doing a lot of breathwork. Lip balm’s a good idea if you’re a lip balm type. Bring your favourite a yoga mat to lie on. Most of the workshop will be done sitting in chairs, although the final breathwork journey will be done down lying down. If you don’t have a yoga mat, there will be spares you can use. An eye mask is a good idea. And bring a smile and a willingness to learn and experience.
