An Evening of Fingerstyle Guitar with Lyle Brewer and Henry Ferland
An Evening of Fingerstyle Guitar with Lyle Brewer & Henry Ferland
Join us for an evening of fingerstyle guitar by world-class musicians featuring Berklee professor, composer, and award-winning guitarist Lyle Brewer. And one of our favorite local guitarists, the acclaimed Henry Ferland, opens the show. Both guitarists are extremely talented in their own right, and their combined styles will make for an incredible show that you won't want to miss.
Brewer's virtuosic and precise playing takes you on different journeys of emotional depth with beautiful melodies, harmonies, and compositions that don’t need lyrics for you to understand the music. Brewer is currently touring across the country to promote his new studio album, Learning Curve, which draws inspiration from Nick Drake and the Beatles with elements of folk, rock, and jazz music.
Ferland has earned a reputation in the Hudson Valley as a fingerstyle phenom who plays rhythm, melody, and harmony at the same time, often while singing. Drawing influence from the old-time country guitar styles of Chet Atkins and Merle Travis, Ferland has carved out a new genre of guitar playing called New American Fingerstyle, which incorporates elements of jazz and bluegrass into that Americana style.
The Muse is the perfect venue for this concert. It's a well-designed acoustic listening room where you can hear every note being played by these incredible musicians. Brewer was one of Ferland’s guitar teachers at Berklee College of Music, which makes this show even more special. This will be an incredible night of music that shows you the true range of an acoustic guitar.
