Bring Back the Singing!
Event description
Bring Back the Singing!6-week Webinar Series (15 mins each session) |
Amanda Bartram and Lisa Burman are on a mission in 2021! We want to bring singing back into the daily fabric of preschools, kindergartens and primary school classrooms. Now, you might be thinking, “But I DO sing…” Bravo! This short series might add to your repertoire or provide some extra gems of research to deepen your intentional teaching as you sing. However, our visits to many sites and communities over the years has shown us a distinct decline in singing with children every day. This could be for a number of reasons – the over-crowded curriculum, lack of confidence, lack of knowledge of songs and finger-plays or feeling the pressure of other system demands on your time. We get it. We also know the many benefits singing with children can bring – to their emotional wellbeing, their sense of belonging, to phonological awareness and literacy and numeracy. Just to be clear – we are NOT talking about singing along to a taped track or video. The kind of singing we’re talking about is live WITH the children, so we can alter the pace, volume and tempo ourselves. By subscribing to the 6-week series you’ll join us for just 15 minutes each week as we: · teach you a new song or finger play that you can then sing every day for the next week (and therefore learn it, so it’s part of your repertoire). · share one research ‘gem’ to deepen your understanding about the power and potential of singing and moving to music. · email a resource booklet with all the words to the songs and finger plays of Season 1. Will you help us “Bring Back the Singing” into your daily interactions with children? Join the mission for 2021 and let’s hear our voices sing and see our bodies move! 3:45pm - 4:00pm each Wednesday for 6 weeks (recording available for one week after) Week 1 - Wednesday 24th February Week 2 - Wednesday 3rd March Week 3 - Wednesday 10th March Week 4 - Wednesday 17th March Week 5 - Wednesday 24th March Week 6 - Wednesday 31st March |
