Greater Sydney Parklands invites Homeschool & Distance Education students and their parents/carers to join us in Bringing Back the Bush at Lizard Log in Western Sydney Parklands. 

This excursion is provided FREE of charge.

Get hands-on in activities that teach First Nations cultural perspectives, science, geography and tree planting to restore native habitat.

Bringing Back the Bush provides cross-curricular learning with a focus on First Nations cultural perspectives, sustainability, fieldwork and developing a lifelong connection to nature and Western Sydney Parklands. Dharug elders will share cultural activities.


When: Tuesday 8th April 2025

Who: Homeschool & Distance Education students aged between 8-13 years. We require a parent/carer or guardian to remain with each group.

Time: 9:45am – 2:15pm 

Where: Lizard Log, Western Sydney Parklands

**We require a minimum of 100 students overall to run this event.

FAQs: 

What will Western Sydney Parklands Trust provide?  Greater Sydney Parklands will provide First Nations educators to share culture and GSP educators to teach science, geography and tree planting activities.  

How many sessions can I book?  Each Homeschool or Distance Education Group should book for the amount of students and parents/carers they plan on attending with.

How many students can I bring?  You are welcome to book individually for your own child or to book on behalf of your co-op or education group. We require a minimum of 100 students up to a maximum of 150 students overall to run this event.

What should students bring?  A hat for sun protection, enclosed footwear, raincoat for wet weather, morning tea, lunch and plenty of water. 

What if it rains?  We are an all-weather program, except in extreme weather circumstances (such as lightning storms, high winds, high temperatures or total fire bans). Students should bring wet weather gear. If rain greater than 10mm is predicted and of concern please discuss a cancellation with greater than 48hrs notice.  We will try to re-schedule your excursion but it is not guaranteed.  

How long is the excursion?  9:45am to 2:15pm. There will be 3 different 45min activities throughout the day with a lunch break, free play in the playground and time for morning tea. 

What if I need to cancel my booking?  Notify us at the earliest opportunity so that we are able to offer the excursion to our waitlist. We cannot accept any cancellations in less than 48hrs before the excursion commences.
