Description

Uplyft, who partner with the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) to deliver the Early Childhood Approach will be facilitating Bringing Up Great Kids. This four (4) week workshop will be presented online by paediatric allied health professionals and early childhood teachers.

Bringing Up Great Kids is an evidence based reflective parenting program developed by the Australian Childhood Foundation which has a focus on building loving and nurturing relationships between parents and carers and their children. The program provides an opportunity for parents and carers to reflect on their parenting journey and to build mindful, attuned, nurturing relationships.

Bringing Up Great Kids will support parents to:

  • Reflect on the origins of their own parenting style and how they would like to parent.

  • Consider what is going on in the child’s brain and the relationship to their behaviour.

  • Explore communication between parents and children.

  • Discover how to overcome some of the obstacles that are getting in the way of being the kind of parent they would like to be.

  • Learn about the importance of parents/carers taking care of themselves, to be able to support their children to feel good about themselves.

Sessions will be held online via Microsoft Teams every Tuesday morning, from 9.30 am - 11.30 am on the below dates:

  • February 09

  • February 16

  • February 23

  • February 02

Important information:

  • The program will be carried out over four (4) weeks and parents and carers must be able to attend all four sessions.

  • Registration is open for 1 - 2 caregivers from each family, where more than two parents are attending (for example, stepparents) please contact Uplyft.

  • Where two caregivers are attending, this can be done together or separately. Please note this when registering.

  • To participate in the program, attendees need to have access to a camera/webcam and a microphone.

  • You will get the most out of the sessions if you use a computer as some activities are interactive which require the use of two devices (phone and computer). If you only have access to a smart phone and wish to participate, this is still ok.

  • When registering please note if you would like a facilitator to call to discuss the program and help you test your technology before the start date.

  • If you have not been referred to this program by an Uplyft early childhood approach practitioner, please note there will be additional sign-up requirements including providing evidence of identity and completing some questionnaires. You will be contacted upon registration to discuss the sign-up process.

  • This series will be suitable for families that have a child under 6 years old that is not a NDIS participant.
