- Bus: The closest bus stop is Alice Street 100 at Albert St. The buses that stop here are: 118, 138, 153, 156, 162, 551, 561, 569, 573, 575, 577, 579, 581 - Train: Central Station is approx a 10-15 minute walk. South Bank Station is approx a 10 minute walk if you use the Goodwill Bridge - Ferry: F1, F12, F24 stop at QUT Gardens Point. It’s approx a 10 minute walk - Bike: You can access the botanic gardens via the Goodwill Bridge, Kangaroo Point Bridge and the Bicentennial Bikeway. The closest bike rack is at the People’s Walk near the lagoon - Car: There’s limited street parking around the botanic gardens. Disability parking is available inside the Edward Street gate and behind The Gardens Club (entry via Gardens Point Road).

Entry instructions

You can enter the gardens via these gates: Alice Street entrance at the intersection with Albert Street, next to the Kangaroo Point Bridge Edward Street gate Goodwill Bridge and The Domain at Gardens Point Road Parliament House entrance on George Street. The closest gate to Oakman's Lagoon is the Alice Street entrance at the intersection with Albert Street. There are maps at each of the entry points that show you the specific path to take to Oakman's Lagoon.

After entry instructions

Follow the path to Oakman's Lagoon. If coming from the Alice St near Albert St entrance, walk through the entrance and take the first OR second right. Both paths lead to Oakman's Lagoon.

Hazards

There are steps near the lagoons, and there are bodies of water. The picnic will take place on a grass area, which may be uneven ground.

Toilet location

There are public bathrooms (including accessible bathrooms) next to the intersection of the Central Path and Palm Ave inside the botanic gardens.

Accessible parking

Disability parking is available inside the Edward Street gate and behind The Gardens Club (entry via Gardens Point Road)

Sounds

You will be able to hear cars and buses. There will be the sounds of people talking, and you will be able to hear music playing through a speaker. There will also be the sound of flowing water from the fountains at the lagoons.
