Briscoe Sisters in Concert at Eureka Hall

Peace Run Records and Gaba Musik present Kuku Yalanji sister trio, Briscoe Sisters, in concert at Eureka Hall on Saturday 19 September. Doors will open at 6pm for a 6.45pm show start. Support by Aus/Fijian singer-songwriter Andrea Kirwin, who performed at Eureka Hall back in 2021 as part of Woodford Folk Festival of Small Halls. Tickets are available at $40 general / $30 concession, $20 senior citizen and u15 $10 options. The concert is seated and please bring some snacks and drinks along to enjoy in the interval. BRISCOE SISTERS

Hailing from Yalanji country in Far North QLD, Deline, Merindi and Naurita aka, Briscoe Sisters have been performing their songs and cultural stories for over two decades across Australia. From their early days being recognised as Port Fairy's Folk Festival's Matons Young Talent of the year in 2005 and top 4 Deadly's new talent in 2004, the sisters spent 10 years on the road, touring to national Festivals and major events before taking more time out to raise their families and focus on other creative endeavours and businesses.

Some of their career highlights include performing at CIAF (Indigenous Art Fair) in 2018, Tandanya Spirit Festival in South Australia and performing alongside Yothu Yindi Band at the Yarrabah Music Festival in 2018 and at the Sydney Opera House! With recent performances at Woodford Folk Festival, Port Fairy Folk Festival and Blue Mountains Music Festival, Briscoe Sisters are back on tour and performing select regional venues across SE QLD and Northern NSW, bringing their Kuku Yalanji language and healing songs to audiences once again.

Grounded in their culture and families, these sisters continue to bring great healing medicine through their songs and empowerment through their stories. They are one of this country's very special music acts and we're so proud to be hosting a tour for these beautiful song women! Book your tickets and see you there.

ANDREA KIRWIN

Growing up as the daughter of a Fijian preacher, and discovering Folk music at University in Canberra at 21, Andrea Kirwin has spent almost two decades crafting her own unique sound which she calls, Fijian Folk and Island Soul. Including elements of Jazz and Gospel in her original music, Andrea’s live shows are dynamic and highly entertaining as she weaves her way through songs and stories that have been inspired by her multicultural upbringing in Australia and Fiji. She performs on Acoustic guitar, Cigar Box Guitar, Harmonica and stomp and has released 5 independent albums on her independent record label, Peace Run Records. Her influences include Tracy Chapman, Gillian Welch, Carole King and Eva Cassidy to name a few.

Andrea came to Eureka hall back in 2021 as part of the Woodford Folk Festival of Small Halls and is excited to return with Briscoe Sisters on Saturday 19 September!
