About the artists:
Brittany Ann Tranbaugh (pronounced TRAN-baw) is a Philadelphia-based songwriter whose queer Americana heartbreaker “Kiss You” won Song of the Year in the 2021 John Lennon Songwriting Contest. Tranbaugh has been writing songs and playing shows as a side gig since she was a teenager, but in February 2023, at 31 years old, she finally quit her office job to pursue a full-time career in music. Her newest release is a self-titled EP produced by Grammy-winner Tyler Chester which showcases Tranbaugh in her new era: energetic, self-assured, surrounded by her beloved musical community, and more commanding as a vocalist and writer than ever before.
Born on the East Coast, and based on the West, indie-folk singer-songwriter Blair Borax’s unique voice, charming melodies, and honest songwriting will bring you to the heart of being human and leave you feeling less alone. Her inspirations grow from songwriting greats like Bob Dylan, Paul Simon, and John Prine, and modern classics like Regina Spektor, Cat Clyde, and Adrianne Lenker. Borax’s second record, “Tender Lately” (2024) weaves through the personal and the universal, and leaves you with gentle reminders to quiet the inner critic, find joy in small things, and embrace the precious brevity of our time on Earth. With more sophisticated songwriting, a newfound confidence in guitar, and a move towards dynamic acoustic folk production, Tender Lately is Borax’s most compelling work to date.
About the venue:
Harmonie Hall is a historic building in Manayunk, Philadelphia that was built in 1891. Back in the day, it was a German social lounge and dance hall and home to Manayunk Singing Society. Today, it is a venue and community event space.
