Brushstrokes of 20th Century Contemporaries: Official Opening

Event description

Join us for the opening of a unique exhibition at the Royal Queensland Art Society's Petrie Terrace Gallery on Sunday, 8th September, from 1:00 pm to 3:30 pm.

This exhibition celebrates the works of three Queensland artists: John Rigby (1922-2012), Joy Roggenkamp (1928-1999), and Frank de Silva (1913-1981). Each artist had connections with the RQAS during their careers, enriching the art scene with their unique visions and creative expression.

Showcasing a diverse array of styles and mediums, including oils, acrylics, and watercolours, the exhibition features artworks drawn from the artists’ family collections, offering a glimpse into the artistic heritage of Queensland.

Phil Brown, a well-known and respected arts journalist, poet, and author, will officially open the event at 1:30 pm, with members of the artists' families in attendance.

The exhibition runs from 4th to 22nd September 2024 (closed Mondays & Tuesdays).
