Event description

It's finally the end of Term 3!

It definitely wasn't the typical school term, but that doesn't mean we shouldn't celebrate the term that was with the rest of the Bourke Street Public School community.

Join us for an online social event across all grades and levels, while raising funds for the P&C and joining our edutainment lineup on the evening. The social is a chance for Bourke St Parents, Carers and Community to celebrate the end of school term, connect virtually and have fun, while raising funds for the P&C.

Set yourself up somewhere comfy, bring your own drinks, and connect with parents and carers without leaving the house!

What's the plan?

Over the span of several hours, we're offering a slate of entertainment activities to bust the lockdown blues. You don't need to be online for the whole event, but can come and go as you please.

  • 4PM - 11PM: Event platform is OPEN - Ticket holders can wander in a virtual pub and chat with one another, BYO drinks
  • 430PM: Family-friendly cooking class facilitated by Mishy at Naturally Sauced, shopping list info sent after ticket purchase
  • 6PM: Cocktail Master Class by Jeremy Thomas at Cubby Creative, preparation info available after ticket purchase
  • 8PM: Murder Mystery Game by BSPS Parent Sheba Williams
  • 9PM Technology Genius Bar - Solve your teaching technology woes with BSPS Parent Dominic Hebert

Sounds like fun! But how will it work?

This won’t be a bunch of boring zoom meetings! We’ll be using new and intuitive virtual event platform Spatial.chat, that allows you to move around the room and connect with other people. The room is set up now for testing if you'd like to give it a quick whirl. But you won't find anybody in there until Saturday 18th September!

Everyone will be given access to the virtual pub environment to join at any point in the evening they wish. Both parents of a household can join on a single ticket.

Those who purchase the cooking class, the cocktail class or Murdery Mystery Game will enter a special virtual room in the pub to participate.

The volunteer team organising the event will send out preparation instructions before the event to help you get the most from the experience. Things work best on a desktop but mobile mostly works (not Chrome on iOS). Plan to set yourself up somewhere comfy, bring your own drinks, and connect with parents and carers without leaving the house!

Brought to you by the Bourke Street P&C Tech Committee team. Reach out to Tech Committee Coordinator Mikey Leung on earth2mikey[at]gmail.com if you if have more general queries -- bourkestreet.pandc[at]gmail.com.
