BSSA August Nature Walk
Event description
Thank you for your patience - we're excited to be able to reschedule this event to 30th August!
The Biology Society of South Australia (BSSA) is excited to collaborate for a second year in a row with the Port Environment Centre for a beach combing walk with Peter Hunt from the Malacological Society!
Join us for this walk to discover the coastal marine faunal biodiversity as indicated by the coastal wash up during low tide. Last year, we discovered an invasive scallop not though to occupy this part of SA - what might we find this year?
Date & Time: 30th August 2025 (Sat) 10am-1pm
Location: Meet near the Jetty at the Largs Bay
BRING: Hat, water bottle, a washable/reusable bag (for collecting items found along the beach)
Algal Bloom update: GLOVES - for handling anything found along the beach.
We will be walking along the sand and the weather is likely to be windy and/or chilly, so please dress appropriately for these conditions.
Look forward to seeing you there!
ALGAL BLOOM WARNING As there are instances of the algal bloom occuring along Largs Beach, we strongly advise against handling anything found washed up without gloves, or to wash your hands thoroughly if you do. There have been no instances of respiratory distress at this location, however please consult us if you are concerned.
