Travel instructions

TRAM. Stop 6: Town Hall & Collins St (100m away) ā€“ Routes 11, 12, 48, 109. Stop 11: Collins St & Swanston St (200m away)ā€“ Routes 1, 3, 5, 6, 16, 64, 67, 72. TRAIN. The Capitol is an approximately 400m walk from Flinders Street Train Station or 600m from Melbourne Central Station, both along Swanston Street. CAR. Some metered and/or timed parking spaces are located on Russell, Exhibition and surrounding streets. There are also several nearby car parks, including Federation Square car park.

Entrances

Enter The Capitol Arcade from Swanston Street or Howie Place. Halfway through the arcade thereā€™s a lift (between the jeweller and the dry cleaner). Take the lift up to The Capitolā€™s Foyer level. From the Foyer, a separate lift provides access to the Theatre, Salon and Lounge levels inside The Capitol.

Parking

There are a number of accessible parking spaces located on Little Collins and surrounding streets. Parking is also available at a number of nearby car parks, including Fed Square car park, which has accessible car spaces on each level.

Toilets

Wheelchair accessible amenities are located on the Foyer level. Facilities include a baby change area.

Seating Information

The Capitol Theatre has eight accessible spaces, accompanied by eight companion seats. Four of these spaces are accessible from the Foyer level. The remaining four spaces are accessible from the Salon level (Level 3) via the lift. Please ask our front of house staff for directions or to accompany you to one of these spaces if assistance is required.

Hearing Loop

The Capitol is equipped with a hearing loop throughout the building. Please ask our front of house staff for assistance if required.

Auslan

This performance is in English and all sessions will be Auslan interpreted. One interpreter will stand to the side of the stage and live translate the dialogue into Auslan. The interpreter will be visible from all seats; there are no restricted view seats. If you would like to reserve seats in the front rows of the audience to be close to the Auslan interpreters please contact us. A limited number of reserved seats will also be available on the day on a first-in basis. Seats are otherwise general admission and you are welcome to sit anywhere.

Relaxed Performances

During the Relaxed Performances, sensory elements such as sound and lighting will be adapted to make the show more accessible for a range of audience members. The auditorium lights will stay on throughout the performance and sound levels in the performance will be lowered.

Performance Details

This performance is interactive, including some optional audience participation. It will include haze, some loud noises and bubbles falling on the audience. The performance utilises standard bubble liquid. If you have any questions, please speak to venue staff.

Quiet Space

A quieter break out space will be available above the foyer ā€“ please note that this may be a shared space and is not enclosed. Please speak to venue staff for assistance.

50% Aural Rating

This performance has both sound and visual components, but sight isnā€™t essential to engage with the work.

75% Visual Rating

This performance has minimal dialogue and some background music or sounds.

Language Barrier

For this performance, audiences can understand and engage with the performance without a comprehensive understanding of the English language
