Event description

BUF 2025 – take a bigger bite

In person and online!

CMVic invites you to come along to the Boroondara Ukulele Festival at the Ashburton Community Centre on Saturday August 9th for an easy to digest afternoon of delectable ukulele delights – and maybe a sweet treat!

Tasty workshops from Sally Carter (Sally’s Ukulele and Green Fieldz) and Steph Payne (Wyndukes Ukestra, Daisy Chains, many choirs!) will flavour the day; delicious morsels will be presented in the tutor’s concert; and you can add your own flavour and ingredients to the mix that will be the all in strumalong led by Margaret Crichton (BAUG, teacher at Ashburton, Bennettswood, Epping and festivals).

It will be a fingerpicking good event that you can sink your teeth into, whatever your level of expertise. As long as you have a few chords in your pantry, your level of spiciness will be catered for, from mild to hot! Strumming and picking are all in the mix.

If you can’t be there in person, you can even cook along online as our super ukulele chefs introduce you to some familiar ingredients and some new ones to test your playing palate.

Doors will open at 12.30 then we’ll sandwich the day between strumalongs, with the tasty fillings of workshops, concerts and an afternoon tea break to swap recipes, ukulele tips and make new friends. Chantelle and Uke will be making custom T-Shirts onsite and we'll have a mini-market for all things ukulele. The day will finish at 6pm, after which we pack up our utensils and clean our benches!

You may choose to come early or linger later in High Street to take advantage of one of the local cafes or restaurants for lunch or dinner, just to extend your gastronomic experience.

Book online to secure your seat at the uke stand. Some tickets will also be available on the day provided we don't sell out!

Workshop resources will be shared online the day before so you can choose to download them to a device to bring or print them and bring along. Copies will be available on the day. We recommend that online participants have the notes on a separate device so you can clearly see the tutor onscreen.

$40 in person ($30 member/concession) or $15 online ($10 member/concession).**
