Details

Founded by the LeClaire Women's Club in 1957, the Buffalo Bill Museum of LeClaire is a nonprofit historical, cultural, educational resource for the preservation of memorabilia related to William F. Cody, Mississippi River pilots, and early regional pioneer history. The Buffalo Bill Museum attracts visitors from across the nation and around the world. Exhibits include memorabilia from the Buffalo Bill Cody Wild West Show, a replica of a one-room schoolhouse, and the last working wooden paddlewheel tugboat on the Mississippi. In 2024, the Buffalo Bill Museum hosted a series of “Women in History” afternoon teas. In June 2024, the Museum hosted a two-day outdoor event, "Buffalo Bill Brings the Wild West Show Home," in partnership with Pleasant Valley Schools at Cody Elementary School's campus. The show attracted 2,000 visitors. In 2025, the Museum is bringing the Wild West Show back to LeClaire -- and we are also renovating our children's play room, and building out two new exhibits focused on telling the Story of LeClaire.
