Build a Radio Control Car spring break workshop by Cardinal Racing (Workshop 2)
Event description
Many kids enjoy driving a radio controlled (RC) car. But have they ever built one? RC cars are a fun way to introduce your children to basic mechanical engineering and electric motors. In this 5 day workshop, we provide the guidance, space and tools kids need to build a hobby grade (high quality long lasting) RC car from start to finish and learn how the components of a scale car fit together and work, all the while meeting new friends and having fun. This includes:
- Assembling a car chassis, drivetrain and suspension componentsÂ
- Setting up the differentials and learning about gear ratios
- Properly connecting the electronic servos and installing the electric motor
- Configuring the radio and setting up the electronic speed controller
The last day of class, kids will test out their build and then take their car with a controller, batteries and battery charger to enjoy at home! Of course they are always welcome to come visit us anytime if they need extra support or help in using and maintaining their car.Â
This workshop runs for two hours (10 AM to 12 PM) everyday for the 5 days mentioned on the event image and includes a 15 minute break (snack provided). Total price of the workshop (including all materials and car to take home) is $350.
This worksop includes a full radio controlled car from Japanese maufacturer Tamiya which specializes in high quality scale radio control and model products, as well as radio, batteries and battery charger, together valued at $300.
