Event description

This session will combine two activities: learning how to plant seeds and seedlings, and building an insect hotel. See below for details.

Learn how to plant seeds and seedlings at this exciting workshop for children aged between 3 and 12.

Participants will learn:

  • How to handle seeds and seedlings
  • At what depth different seeds should be planted
  • How to space different types of vegetable seeds and seedlings
  • How to transplant seedlings to their permanent growing space in the garden
  • Why it’s important to preserve seeds and how to keep them viable

Ever wanted to make an insect hotel? Curious about the types of winged insects in your garden? Calling children between the ages of 3 and 12 to this fun-filled workshop!

We will collect natural materials from our garden and make insect hotels to provide a home for flying and crawling insects that visit our garden.

We will also discuss the range of visitors our garden will attract and what we should plant to make sure they can access food and water and how to ensure our garden stays healthy for them.

What to bring: Sunscreen, hat, water, snack

Children must be accompanied by a parent/carer

Cost: $21.90 per child
